Specialist Pain Medicine Physician in the Northern Beaches, Sydney

Dr Amit Sequeira is an Australian-qualified Specialist Pain Medicine Physician. He graduated from Goa Medical College, India in 1999 and qualified as a Specialist Anaesthetist in 2005. He has worked in this role in various tertiary hospitals in India and Brunei Darussalam.

His interest in regional nerve blocks for pain relief after surgery led him down the path of pain management. He completed his Post Doctoral Course in Pain Management from Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi, India in 2018 followed by a Diploma in Pain Management from the University of South Wales, UK in 2022.

He has helped create the department of interventional pain medicine in a tertiary cancer hospital in Kerala, India as well as at hospital RIPAS, the premier public hospital in Brunei Darussalam.

Amit moved to Sydney in 2023, and trained at the the Royal North Shore and St Vincent’s hospitals, obtaining his Fellowship in Pain Medicine from the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anesthetists (FFPMANZCA).

He is also formally endorsed in interventional procedures, having successfully completed the Procedural Endorsement Program conducted by the FPM. He is well versed in a variety of interventional pain-relieving procedures, both ultrasound as well as fluoroscopy guided, with his areas of interest being shoulder and knee joints and spine.

Amit’s main focus has always been in providing holistic, multidisciplinary care tailored to each individual’s specific needs.

His areas of interest include interventional procedures wherever appropriate, neuropathic pain, spinal pain and cancer pain.
